A step-by-step video and picture tutorial to create your own DIY Whimsical Lavender Wreath that will add some farmhouse charm to your front door, and save some money along the way!

I love a good lavender wreath, but could never justify the hefty price tag that a lot of retailers request. So in true DIY blogger fashion I decided to make my own and today I want to take you along that journey.

For today’s lavender wreath I wanted to create something that was a little whimsical and sweet. The end result is a very messy and happy lavender wreath that reminds me of being in an English cottage garden. It is a lot of fun and I love the fact that I spent half of what I would have if I purchased it somewhere.

The beauty in this project is that it only requires a couple of ingredients, and is a wonderful transitional wreath to put up in between seasonal decorations.

For your convenience, I created a step-by-step video so you can see how I put the wreath together. Then continue below to follow the step-by-step images to make your own DIY Whimsical Lavender Wreath.

To make your own whimsical lavender wreath, you will need:

Step 1: Bend the lavender bunch to match the circular movement of the wreath.

Step 2: Attach the lavender bunch to the grapevine wreath with a zip tie.

*Grapevine wreaths are the best base for this project because you don’t have to cover them, and they act as a beautiful and natural base for the lavender to shine off of.

Step 3: Trim the zip tie with scissors.

*For added stability, you can attach more than one zip tie.

Step 4: Repeat steps 1-3 until you add enough lavender bunches to cover the wreath.

For the 18 inch wreath, I used 5 lavender bunches.

Overlap the flowers from one lavender bunch on top of the stems of the nearest lavender bunch.

Tuck the lavender stem ends into the wreath so they don’t show.

Step 5: Fine tune your wreath with hot glue.

Now it is time to fine tune. Make adjustments to the placement of the lavender by securing the lavender with hot glue to the wreath and to each other.

Step 6: Create a hanger for the wreath with a zip tie on the back of the wreath.
Step 7: Enjoy your custom lavender wreath!
