A lot of frames are hollow on the inside. Leaving them easier to damage. This mirror frame is in good condition but the hole is a problem where a nail went though. If you follow me, you now I’m a Refinisher and paint several things, but here is a quick “how to” fix it!

Before

Here’s the before. You can see the hole right in the center.

Close up. This hole went all the way through!

Prep

Time to prep. Clean your piece throughly before repair and painting.

Make sure to get every detail.

Qtips work great for those crevices.

Now get out some good quality clear tape. The cheaper brands could work, but you’re not going to want it to peel off.

Cut a section larger than the hole. If the hole is larger apply the tape in the shortest direction. So if it’s larger going side to side, apply the tape going up and down.

Apply just enough pressure to ensure it’s stuck on all ends.

Apply a second piece going the opposite of the first. If the tape is over lapping any detail, use your nail or small tool to press into it.

Now lightly sand the edges of the tape smooth. Then wipe off any debris.

Now apply your paint! I use DIY paint. It’s a high quality chalk paint. To order yours, click the link I have posted.

Now paint to your liking.

follow manufacturers instructions based on the paint brand you choose.

How’s that for a quick fix?

heres the after!

It is a quick fix. Some paint like chalk paint is is thicker than others will cover the repair. Other paint will still show the edges of the tape. There's always the chance of the tape peeling off over time. Still a great solution.

Thanks! I made sure to specify chalk paint. Definitely a better choice.
