Easy 2x4 Porch Pumpkins

These jumbo porch pumpkins will add farmhouse style to your porch! They're made from 2x4's and you won't believe how easy and inexpensive they are to make! If you have pallet wood, you could use that too. *Please note: the only reason these took me 2 days to complete was because I had to wait for stain to dry!

Cut out pumpkin shape

Lay out your 2x4's, side by side. Draw a very basic pumpkin shape onto the wood with a pencil.

Cut out pumpkin with a saw.

Sand edges

Use a sander to sand and smooth the rough edges and create a bit of a round shape to the corners of the pumpkin.

Glue 2x4s together

Using wood glue, generously apply glue to either edge of each 2x4 and glue the pumpkin together into one piece. Use a strap to hold everything together while glue dries.

Add stain and paint

I chose to stain my pumpkins first and then dry brush white chalk paint over the top to create a weathered, farmhouse effect. That's the only reason this project took 2 days because I had to wait for the stain to dry!

Create stand and stems

Using more 2x4s, cut pieces for your pumpkin to stand on. This creates a sturdy base so the pumpkins won't fall over. I also cut pumpkin stems from scrap wood. Everything was sanded and stained with dark walnut.

Use wood glue to attach pumpkins to the stands and then the stems to the top of the pumpkins.
