Wreaths can be so expensive at times. I'm going to show you how to make an easy, pretty wreath using an embroidery hoop! This project can easily be done with thrifted hoops and florals; or perhaps pieces you already have at home. I always have faux floral sitting around from seasons past. They make great additions to my hoop wreaths!

supplies

This wreath really doesn't require too many supplies! For a basic wreath, like mine, you will need an embroidery hoop (I find a lot of these at thrift stores) floral of your choice, floral wire, and some form of twine or ribbon.

I chose to use a vintage inspired lace ribbon I found at a thrift store.

arranging your floral

The first thing I like to do is arrange my floral on the hoop, before adhering it with wire.

Cutting faux floral

In order to get my faux olive branches to fit, I had to cut down the stem. I do this with an all purpose tool, my husband has. You can always purchase a stem cutter too.

floral placement

Once I cut the stems down, I bent the floral a bit to align it with the hoop. This helps when attaching the floral to the hoop.

using wire to attach floral to hoop

You can always use hot glue to attach floral to the hoop; but I like wire because it can easily be removed. My style taste changes here and there; and wire allows me to easily change the floral.

wrapping the wire

I just wrapped my piece of wire around the floral and hoop, to attach them together. I only applied the wire to the stem area of the floral (as shown.) Add as much as you need.

Covering the wire

Covering your wire can be done with various items. I have used twine before; but used lace ribbon this time.

Attaching ribbon

You can attach the ribbon any way you please. I am going to show you a technique I like. I placed my ribbon over the hoop (wire and floral) as shown. Then I just pull the two tales around the back and through the loop. This allows me to easily remove it as well.

I added three pieces of ribbon, in a row, to cover my wire. Use as many pieces as you need.

Adding additional floral to cover wire

I personally did not want to use only the ribbon to cover the wire. It felt like it needed something else. I added this floral to help fill the empty space.

Once again, I wanted a way to remove the floral; so I just placed it through the holes of the ribbon. If your ribbon doesn't have holes, I would suggest applying ribbon over the stem and tying it to hold the floral.

Ribbon for hanging

This step is really personal preference. You can always hang your wreath using your hoop. I attached a piece of the lace ribbon for a prettier look.

completed project

All done! This particular look may not be your thing; but you can use any floral you want to meet your taste.
