Thrifted Vase Refresh!
Hi friends! We just haddd to try this new baking soda and paint fad on a 4$ thrifted vase we picked up! Hoping you guys like the results as much as we did!
This is the vase in its original state. Old boring and a terrible color! But with a little love and paint we make it fresh and looking like something sold at West elm for 50$ , make sure to wipe down the inside and outside of your vase you will be working on!
All you need for this is a paint color of your choosing ( we went with black for that high end textured look) a brush, and some baking soda!
For this step start small we added about a tablespoon of baking soda to about a cup of paint and mixed, start with the first coat on your vase and see if you like It or are going A bit more texture. Love emended up adding more baking soda to the paint for the second coat just to give it some more of that weathered look
Go ahead and add your second and possibly 3rd coat of paint. Again depending on texture you’re going for you may want to add more baking soda! Keep playing around with it until you’ve reached your desired consistency , but remember there is absolutely no wrong look! Just the look you’re going for is all that matters!
As you can see by the dried vase it now has such a texture to it! The only thing left to do is add some dried fall
florals perhaps to give it that fall feel everyone is adding to their homes!
I added some dried stems from a local craft store and put the vase on my Serena and lily stool and just adore the way it came out! As always you can follow us on Instagram @spoonfulofsugar_ct

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
Nice! I wonder if this would work on those glass vases that flower arrangements come in? I have several that I’d like to try this on.
Would this paint be ok if put outside?
Would this work on a shiny ceramic surface??? I have a wine cooler that needs revamping. Been wanting to do something to for ages.
