If you are looking for a cost effective way to add that wow factor, look no further!

Step 1 design you wall

The first thing you will want to do is draw up a rough draft of the design you would like to do.

once I had my design on paper I went to Home Depot and bought a https://www.homedepot.com/p/3-4-in-x-4-ft-x-8-ft-Particle-Board-Panel-ru1191248096000000a/202518919

and has the worker cut it down to 1 inch pieces.

I had him cut me 25 pieces just to be safe, the design I drew up only needed 20.

Once you have all your supplies ready to go, you will want to paint the wall the color you will be using

I am using rosy sandstone by valspar

I do not use tape, I like to use an edger.

this is way more cost effective that buying rolls of tape, plus it saves me so much time.

Step 3 cut the wood strips

Now that my wall is painted and ready to apply the wood I am bringing in my nail gun to let it build up pressure while I cut my wood pieces to the length and angles that I will be using.

(I used a chop saw to cut my pieces)

Step 4 nail pieces to wall

Using a stud finder I am nailing the wood pieces to the wall Just like the plan that I drew up.

I started at the top and worked my way to the bottom.

Step 5 caulking

Now that the boards are attached to the wall you will want to fill in all the nail holes and caulk the sides of the boards.

I apply the caulking to the nail holes with my fingers and then wiped with a baby wipe.

For the edges I just ran the caulking gun along the sides.

I also tried out a caulking tool, but I was just as happy with using a baby wipe to smooth the edges.

Step 6 final paint

Now that your caulking is dried, you can paint the boards to match the wall.

I used a small brush to make it easier to get into the corners.

Now you have a beautiful eye catching accent wall.

Could you paint the wood strips before nailing them up?

then touch up your nail holes? Must use caulking on strip edges or not?

i feel no caulking leaves a cleaner strip.. maybe I’m wrong.. lol

Wouldn't this wall be a real pain to clean, with all the strips of board?
