Have you always wanted on outdoor TV?

We have!

We love to hang out on our back deck but unfortunately, it's not enclosed or covered so we weren't sure we could add a TV to our outdoor living space.

But I found a solution to our problem! We hung an affordable regular smart TV in a waterproof outdoor enclosure on the back of our house.

Yup, that's right just hung it right to the siding of our house!

And it's so easy to do!

Measure Space for Installing Outdoor TV on House

We only had one spot on the house where we could hang a TV because the rest of the back is covered in windows.

We measured the area to be sure a TV would fit.

We also already had an outdoor outlet so no electrical work would be needed for this project. Yay!

Purchase Storm Shell & Smart TV

We purchased the smallest size Storm Shell Outdoor TV enclosure which would fit a 32-44" TV (they have larger sizes available if you have more space).

We also bought a 43" Smart TV.

Installing Outdoor TV Enclosure

Our house is Hardiplank siding with plywood behind so we were able to screw right into the house to attach the outdoor TV enclosure.

Level the Siding with Scrap Wood

The cover wasn’t laying flat against the house because of the siding so we were able to easily fix that by screwing a piece of scrap wood into the siding behind the cover.

Attach TV Mount to Outdoor Enclosure

The directions that came with the outdoor TV enclosure were super easy to follow.

If you've ever mounted a TV inside your home this is exactly the same process.

Hang Smart TV to Mounting Bracket

Once the TV was attached to the mounting bracket and plugged in we were ready to go.

The cover of the outdoor enclosure hangs from hooks at the bottom while the TV is in use.

The mounting bracket allows us the pull the TV out and swivel as needed to view from anywhere on our back deck.

It may not be the prettiest TV enclosure but it's secure and waterproof.

And we are loving our time outside watching sports!Football Sunday will be fun outside this season!!

How did you hook your provider cable? Thru the wall or under the door?

What a great project! Do you know if the shell protects against heat and sun damage? I live in Arizona and it can get up past 110 degrees F here in the summer months.
