How To Make A Single Farmhouse Pedestal Tray With Lots Of Texture
I love farmhouse stands but they are just so expensive! So I made my own!
The cost was super cheap since I already had mostly everything on hand
I took an old table leg and cut it down to size. I applied e6000 to the cake pan and hot glue to the table leg. This gives it an extra secure hold and you don't have to wait for the e6000 to dry 😁
Then take a 4 inch bamboo saucer or similar and glue it to the bottom end of the leg
Using some brown acrylic paint, I added in salt wash. Salt wash a powder additive that makes your paint extremely thick and gives any surface a ton of texture.
Following the directions on the can of the salt wash and then apply it to the tray stand. You can use a brush, sponge, or even spatula.
Take some off white paint, I used Frenchic Furniture Paint in Wedding Cake. Paint the entire stand
Now that the paint is dry, take 120 grit sandpaper and sand back the off white layer to reveal the brown.
Then seal the entire thing with Frenchic's clear wax. Always apply clear wax before a colored wax, this gives you a lot more work time.
Using a wax brush, apply Frenchic's Browning Wax and wipe off any excess using a paper towel or rag
Decorate your stand and enjoy!

Have a question about this project?
It’s beautiful, but the cake pan seems to be much bigger & deeper than an 8” cake pan; why is that?
