DIY Air Plant Wreath

The great thing about air plants is that they are so nice and light and they don't need any soil. This gives you completely new possibilities to use living plants decoratively over a long period of time.

Maintain tillandsia

The tillandsias are really very easy air plants to care for. You don't need soil and only need a little (rain) water twice a week. You can simply spray them on or briefly put them in a water bath.

The roots of the plant are mainly used to clamp onto various surfaces. But you can also easily tie or glue them.

When it gets colder outside, the wreath gets a nice new place in my office or in the hallway. As long as it's still nice outside, they can stay there. Since they are exotic plants, they are sensitive to frost.

The small air plants are also wonderfully suitable for the humid climate in the bathroom. You should still water them regularly so that they are fine. Unfortunately, this is even based on my own experience.

The material for the air plant wreath

• 2 Tillandsia Capitata
• 2 Tillandsia Ionantha Red
• 1 Tillandsia Juncea
• 1 hoop
• Thin wire in green or gold
• Nail
• Hammer

This is how you tie the air plant wreath

I positioned the hoop so that the screw cap is on the top. Here you can hang the wreath on a nail later.

First, arrange the plants so that they form a nice arrangement. Then tie them with the wire. Try to hide the wire under the "leaves" and tighten it on the back. Finished.

Decoration tips

There are many other ways you can get creative with tillandsia. There are nice ideas with picture frames, wooden branches or you can make beautiful hanging ornaments out of wire and clip them into them.
