Do you have a large wall in your home and you're unsure how to decorate it? Me too!

Well, I was unsure but I found something that worked perfectly! And I want to share it with you and I hope, if anything, it sparks an idea that will work for you, too.

We moved into our new-to-us house four months ago and I've rearranged the living room furniture three times. But one thing that has remained the same through all the arranging and rearranging is the big, blank living room wall.

Okay, let's have a look at that big, blank wall...

Here it is in all it's glory! Big and blank. And it's actually larger than what you can see in the picture. The only thing this wall had me thinking was "how do I decorate this thing? It's huge."

I'm happy to report I finally figured it out and I thought if I had this issue, maybe someone else does, too, so I want to share my solution with you.

After looking at too many photos on Pinterest and realizing that most traditional wall decor would be too expensive to cover the wall, I decided to order a shoji screen. Take it apart. And hang it on the big, blank wall.

It arrived today and I couldn't wait to get it out of the box and up on the wall.

Here is the screen right out of the box.

While patiently waiting for the screen to arrive, it occurred to me that I would need a way to hang it. I figured it wouldn't be very heavy, so I ordered some small triangle D-ring picture hangers to install on the backs of the screens. I could only find a package of 100 and used just 6, but the extras will probably come in handy down the road.

No pre-drilling necessary. The wood the screens are made of was soft enough to use a regular screw driver to install the rings.

I then removed the hinges from the screens so I would have three separate panels to hang up. I suppose you could leave them hinged and still hang them, but I wanted to have some space between the panels so I could take up a little more wall space and I think it looks interesting to have them separated.

The panels are now ready to hang! Using a step ladder, a small hammer, 6 nails, and a level, we changed that big, blank wall into art!

Here's the finished look!

Before...

...and after!

Have you had to tackle a big, blank wall in your home? How did you tackle it?

Now I need to do something about that air vent...

Thanks for stopping by!
