Glitter Ornaments
Hey y’all! It has been awhile since I last posted. I have been busy learning some new crafts, raising grand babies, and even started school again! So, I made some of these last year, and really wanted to do more. So, I bought some ornaments (clear glass or plastic), grabbed some polycrylic, some glitter, and got busy.
Take the top off your ornament. You can do this different ways, but here is what I have found works best for me. Use a syringe!
Squirt that poly into your onament, and swish it around until the inside has a nice coat of poly.
Now, you can use disposable cups for this step. However, I have a ton of empty Oui yogurt jars I just wash and reuse.Empty what you can back into your container and then let the ornament sit upside down on container of your choice and let it drain.
Set your timer for about 10 minutes. I usually ask Alexa to remind me.
I try to do a small assembly line and not do one at a time. If you are wondering about the white paper...I cut up some paper towel to use behind ornament to hold it upright. Round ornaments fit without that.
I have a TON of glitter (I make custom tumblers) fine glitter is what you will want to use. Get some paper (any type will work) and a small funnel.
Lay out a sheet of paper, hold funnel in end of ornament, add glitter. Don’t by shy, add a lot it is easy to save the leftover glitter and easier than not using enough (trust me).
Make sure you are swirling that glitter around to coat the whole interior. Dump the excess out on a clean sheet of paper.
You can then pour the extra glitter right back into your jar to use again.
In no time, I have these sparkling beauties. No more hunting for the perfect color ornaments, just make them! These are stunning just like this, BUT you can decorate the outside too...that will be another post.

Love this project! Didn’t get to it for Christmas 2020 but already have Dollar Tree clear ornaments that I bought in 2019 that I never used. 🤫🤪 Can’t wait to make these! Will have new ornaments for our 2021 Christmas tree. It will be here before we know it. Thanks for the share.
