DIY Vintage Looking Satchel

I wanted something vintage looking to hang on the hook in my entry and this is what I came up with!

This project didn’t cost me a cent. I had drop cloth material on hand as well as paint and stencils. The pine greenery was even clipped from my property.

Basically fold your drop cloth material in half depending on how large or what shape you’re going for will determine where you should glue.

You should only have to glue two ends using the fold as the third side. Hot glue works best as it dries quickly. Once you’ve glued your ends together turn it right side out. It’s kind of like a pillow case.

Cut a strip for the strap.

Then glue each end inside the satchel, like a purse.

I placed a piece of cardboard inside while stenciling my letters so the paint would bleed through.

I used a dark gray paint but I think red would look nice too.

It’s already looking vintage!

Once the paint was dry I filled the satchel with pine.

You can really personalize this project. Pine cones, antlers, bulbs, bells.... I hope you enjoyed this project!!

I have a number of various bags but they each have a logo on them. Does anyone have an idea how to get the logo out? I know it depends on what the bag is made of, but I'm wondering if anyone has dyed one of those bags or has any experience with bleach or such?

Great idea and thank you for sharing. I would like to make a suggestion for the pine cuttings if using real ones. Get a brick of Oasis Floral foam or any floral foam that is used for floral arrangements that are real. Get a container that will hold the foam and cut the foam to size leaving areas of the container open for funneling water into it. Wet the foam totally and put some in the container for extra. Use floral tape to keep the foam stable inside the container. Place the container with the foam in it inside your bag and begin to stick the pine clippings into the foam and arrange. Add additional decorations. Make sure the container is large enough so that you can funnel water into the side or front of it to keep the pine alive and giving out scent :)
