I am known in my family as a junk collector, they all call me if they have something to get rid of and I of course rarely say no to anything even if I don't have a plan for it. I will eventually put it to good use and that is exactly what I did with this serving platter I was given.

So here is the platter I inherited. The more I looked at it , it was screaming Christmas wreath.

I decided to paint it black, leaving a rim of about 1 inch from the edge in the silver. I am using an outdoor paint in tire swing. Make sure your platter in clean prior to painting.

Here is my platter painted. You will notice the bottom half is painted right to the edge this is just so my swag which I will be adding will adhere to the platter better.

Next I took a swag I had, these can be purchased at Dollarama.

I will be gluing the swag to my platter using E 6000 glue.

I turned my swag over and applied the glue down the middle.

Next I placed it on the bottom of my platter and secured it with clamps and let it dry over night.

Here is my platter with the swag attached.

Next I found some glitter self adhesive paper I had in my craft box. This also can be purchased at the Dollar Store. I wrote the word welcome freehand and cut out.

So here is my letters. Leaving the backing on them I placed them on my platter to see where I wanted to place them. Once I was satisfied I removed the backing from my letters and pressed firmly to secure.

Here is my platter with my Welcome attached.

Next I took a piece of ribbon and cut and tied around both handles.

I cut out a few stars using the same glitter paper in silver and added to my platter.

I love how this turned out. It didn't cost me anything to make as I had everything on hand. You could easily make this for $10 or less. Platters can be found at thrift stores, or you may even have one in your cupboard.

Until next year... Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a better year ahead. Be Safe, Be well, and Be kind.
