I really wanted some oversized Christmas bells and could only find a few that cost a fortune.

A while back I redid a chandelier and had some left over bulb covers.

I never knew what I would use them for but figured I’d save them just in case.

Then I had the idea to turn them into bells.

I knew I needed something on top that rope could go through but it would finish off the shape.

I picked up some washer type things at the hardware store that were just big enough for the thick rope.

I then used some hot glue to stick them together before painting.

I used Rustoleum metallic pure gold.

I then fed the rope through the top and tied a knot on the inside.

To hang the bells, I used a metal ring which I first wrapped in twine.

Wrap tightly right until the end, then tie it off.

I then added some antique wax to make them look slightly aged.

I found it best to apply with a brush, then lightly wipe off with a paper towel.

Once the rope was hung over the metal ring, I tied them together tightly with twine to give a finished look at the top.

I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out for a cheap and easy diy!

The fun thing with this is you could use anything to make a bell 🔔

Oh my gosh! I love this idea! I have some globes almost identical to these. I hope I can locate them after Christmas. That will be my first after Christmas project for sure. Thanks for sharing this creative idea. Great job!
