I have this beautiful dresser made out of solid cherry wood but had no idea what to do with it. Until my friend stopped by that loves color!

Normally I would have taken off the hardware before starting but this time I ended up keeping it on. I also gave everything a good cleaning with a mix of denatured alcohol and water.

Knowing that cherry loves to bleed through When painting lighter colors... I already knew it was going to need a primer. Retique It just came out with a brand new one. I had tested it before so I knew it was going to work. It does not come clean out of your brushes easily so I used a chip brush that I could throw away when I was finished.

Honestly you are supposed to use two coats of the primer but I like to test my limits. 😜 You can see in the picture that the tan is the primer and then we put a coat of Retique It Argentine furniture paint. I wanted this to be my base before we put the other colors on top.

Since we planned on blending we knew we only needed a small amount of each color.I poured my paint into different sections on styrofoam meat trays that I have recycled. (Clean of course)

We started towards the bottom and worked up. At first we kept a space between each color so that we could go back and blend them. I also had a different paintbrush in each color. Good thing I had plenty on hand. 😂

Once you're done applying your colors take your brush and dip it in a little water and lightly start blending the 2 colors together. you might need to add a little bit more paint to your brush.

When you are happy with your results...seal your with Retique It polyacrylic. That will protect your paint job and when you apply glaze it will not soak in and will allow you to wipe off the excess. In this picture you'll see the difference of the look with glaze (on the right) and without.

When I glaze I brush a little bit into all of the grooves and then while it's still wet I take a damp rag and wipe off anything extra. So that you are just left with the dark glaze in all the nooks and crannies. I almost see this as putting eyeliner on furniture. 😁

And here she is! Definitely a statement piece wouldn't you say? I'm almost tempted to keep it in my shop to hold art supplies. ❤️❤️🌈

Oh... Before I forget! I also took a little bit of gold rub and buff and wiped on a little bit with my finger on the hardware and a couple spots here and there on the dresser. I felt like it needed a little bling.🌟

I have done ombre painting on furniture in the past and it turned out beautiful. You should have selected three colors to subtle blend into each other. It's a pretty piece that could have been a showstopper had you used fewer colors and blended them more.

I love this! I am definitely not in the never paint wood furniture crowd :) I love the multicolor look and this would fit into so many color schemes!
