Coffee Table Makeover

A family member spilled nail polish remover on this coffee table and thought it could not be saved. My husband and I thought we could make this piece beautiful again so we took it off my sister's hands for her. The piece is a vintage Thomasville coffee table in French provincial style. It really is a lovely piece.

We used a stripper on the table top to remove the existing stain. Once the stain was removed, we sanded down the table top. This is what we ended up with above once the table was taken down to bare wood.

We stained the top and put polyurethane over the stain. We left the edge around the table without stain, we thought the natural wood look around the edge was rather beautiful.

The piece was painted below the table top. We used a dremel tool and removed all of the paint from the detail on the table. It was quite tedious, but we knew it would be gorgeous when we were finished. Then we stained the legs.

I like to think it turned out. Here is a picture of it in our living room completed. We worked on this on our free weekends so it did take some time for us to get this project completed. If you would like to see additional photos of our living room you can find it at www.vintagestylegal.com Thanks!
