This fall we were gifted some farmhouse weathered board peel and stick vinyl wall panels from @urbandecor.us {on Instagram}. We had a bathroom wall we wanted to make an accent wall. We are currently renting our home and thought this would be perfect as it is supposed to be removable and allowing us to add some of our own character to the house without damaging it. We did a test spot, and it ended up ripping off the paint. We decided to make poster wall decor instead, this would tie our home together with the rustic farmhouse theme. Keep reading to see just how quick and easy it was for us to put this together.

First let’s gather up our materials.

• 1/4” plywood

• faux wood vinyl panels (peel and stick)

• box cutter

• 1/2” wood trim (optional)

• wood glue (optional)

• stain (optional)

The first thing you’ll do is measure your space on the wall and determine how big you’d like the wall hanging to be. We had 3 different spaces, so we measured all 3 spaces. Each one was a little different in size.

Then cut your plywood board to size. We used our table saw to do this.

Next, open your box of vinyl panels. Urban Decor’s boxes had 12 panels in each. I laid them out on top of the plywood to find the design I liked best. They sell these on Amazon so they are easy to find.

CUT: I used a square to keep me on track. Then with my box cutter, scored the top of the panel.

Here you can see how easy the panels are to score, then bend on the line. They are going to break away easily and you have a nice clean edge. Then you’ll peel and stick the vinyl to the board. It’s that easy!! You can leave them like this- or you can add a frame around the edges.

Adding the frame:

first you’ll measure and then you can do one of two things:

  1. add the frame to the picture as is. Taking the trim and cutting it down to the lengths you’ll need for each side. Then glue them onto the posters around the edges and tiler dry.
  2. you can use a router and creative your own frames.

We chose to use a routed frame since we’ll be putting them up in our dining and living rooms in our home and wanted a finished look more than a rustic, unfinished look.

We stained the pieces of the frame gray to match the vinyl. Then glued all the frame pieces to the poster giving it a more finished and elegant look. And added picture hooks to the backs to hangvtyy hi em on the walls

We made 5 total poster wall decor pieces. Two in the dining room flanking our art piece.

Then two in the living room flanking an old vintage window.

The best part is that I can tap or tack printable signs on these and easily change them out for each season or holiday. These two rooms are open concept with each other. So it helps to have a common theme on the walls to tie them together.

The one we hung in the guest bathroom we attached a cotton wreath to, finishing off the look. There are so many possibilities you can choose to decorate these panel posters with, personalizing it to fit your style and your needs. I can sleep easy knowing I’m not destroying a wall in our rental either!

I think the finished product would be on the heavy side and you would need more than what you used to hand them. They look beautiful.
