Refreshing the Master Bedroom

We bought an old side-split with great bones, but it was due for some brightening up. Starting with a Master Bedroom Overhaul to bring in some light.

This is our starting point. It doesn't look too bad from this angle but what you don't see is the other 2 walls are dark chocolate brown.

Step 1 was to pick a colour and figure out the best way to get this cheap wallpaper off. We found a scorer on amazon, and this beautiful Woodlawn blue paint, from Benjamin Moore.

The next job was removing the wallpaper without destroying the walls. Tip - If you are wallpapering, and aren't sure you're going to love it forever, purchase wallpaper that is "peelable". This wallpaper is not, and the backing paper sticks to the wall.

Here is a shot of that chocolate brown I was referring to. To cover this dark brown with our much lighter Woodlawn blue, we went with "Ben Interior Paint" in Eggshell. The Ben product line includes a primer in the paint, which covered great. There were a few spots that needed touch-ups, and even though this is a one coat paint, I used 2 coats in larger areas.

Here is the end result. We had to pay homage to the deep chocolate brown buried under that beautiful blue, so we added some art :)
