Learn how to make rustic farmhouse drink coasters with canning rings. This are very easy to make, and you can easily change the theme of the design by using different supplies.

I can a lot of food and reuse my rings year after year, but when they some rust on them, it's time to turn them into crafts. They are the perfect size for coasters, so that's what I did with some that were too rusty to use but still looked good. You can also use new canning rings and lids to make this.

You will need:

  • Canning rings and lids
  • Farmhouse stickers
  • Cork
  • Brushes
  • Glue Gun
  • Mod Podge
  • Scissors
  • Pencil or pen

Start by tracing a lid on the cork and cutting it out.

Then add a sticker to the center of the cork circles.

Seal both sides of the cork with a thin layer of Mod Podge. Let dry for an hour between coats.

Then glue the cork on top a lid and then glue the lid inside the rings.

Your farmhouse coasters are ready to use as soon as the hot glue sets up. If you want a different theme, just use different stickers. Make sure they measure less than 2.5 inches so they fit inside the canning ring.

Adorable! Have you tried a really hot liquid like a coffee in a mug on your coaster? I find it when something is hot, it makes the glue tacky again and the cup would stick to the coaster. Wondering if this happens with the cork?

I tried this and my stickers didn't stick to my cork and when I applied the mod podge, they curled up and fell off. Any tips ?

Those are such a great idea. Love the look! The raised sides are perfect, keeping your glass in place! 😊
