Y’all!! This centerpiece was soo fun and easy and came together in about 15 minutes!! We have previously established that I am a fan of galvanized stuff so I bought this cute trough for no other reason than it was made of galvanized metal!! I have filled it with all the usual decorative items over the years, rope balls, pumpkins, pine cones, all the usual suspects!! I wanted something a little different this time and definitely more height!! Also since we are in the throes of winter, some candlelight is always welcome!! Enter my friends the mason jars!! Next to galvanized metal, Mason jars are my favorite thing!! I really love how glass sparkles when it’s lit up, and I thought the jars would look great with my glass cloches and tea dispensers in the dining room.

The trough has a rounded bottom which makes it super cute but the jars wouldn’t stand up so I used my favorite filler of all time to create a bed for the jars to rest. BEANS!! I love to use pinto beans or coffee beans as filler and to hold floral stems in place for faux arrangements!! Coffee beans are fun because they smell so wonderful, especially when warmed up by the candles. I didn’t have enough for this project, so pinto beans it is!

Line the base of the trough with enough beans so that the jars are level. You can use more or less depending on how high you want the jars to sit off the bottom.

I used 5 large jars and 5 votive candles in their own glass holders so that I don’t have to chip melted wax out of the big jars later! You could use more small jars or different sizes would be fun too! Vintage or Colored glass jars could be fun too.

I used six small lamb ear stems placed in a zig zag pattern. I LOVE lambs ear, but it can sometimes be a little flat because it’s so pale, so I always pair it with a darker green shade of greenery.

I filled in with darker green boxwood stems. I bought the boxwood in groups and cut them apart using tin snips so that I could mix them into the larger lambs ear stems.

I love the way it turned out! I can’t wait for the sun to go down so the candles will really sparkle! I love it when projects are this quick and easy but also make a big impact!! This fun centerpiece could be made using any low sided container-a wood crate or cute basket, or even a tray would be a great base!! Vintage bottles would also be really cute with greenery tucked in. The possibilities are endless!
