We wanted to add a personal touch to the entryway so we decided to add board and batten. Board and batten was an easy choice to add to the entryway. You can complete this project in one day with a few simple tools. I love board and batten so much that I have it in other spots in my home too!

Here is what our entryway looks like before we started the project.

We started this board and batten wall by first adding a one by four primed pine board right above our baseboard. Make sure the board is level and then use a brad nailer to nail it to the wall.

Next we used one by three primed pine boards spaced 24 inches apart. Make sure the boards are straight by using a level and then nailing it to the wall.

We added a primed pine one by four directly on top of the vertical boards. Make sure it’s level and then nailed it to the wall.

Next we added a primed pine one by two board on top of the one by four board. Make sure it’s level and nail the one by two board to the one by four board.

Once all the boards are on the wall use wood filler to fill all the holes in the boards and where the boards reach each other. Sand the spots with the wood filler. Next use caulk everywhere the boards touch the wall to fill the small gaps.

The last step is to paint the board and batten whatever color you choose.

Here is the finished and styled look.

Where did you get the "there's no place like home" lettering? Is it a decal?

I am not sure what those oversized pillows under the bench are for but still, it all looks fantastic. I love it.
