How to make DIY aroma stones with essential oils. Use these as a natural passive diffuser in small spaces or as a natural air freshener.
These scented rocks are easy to make with common kitchen ingredients. I scented mine with Lava essential oil blend from Simply Earth. It's an uplifting scent with grapefruit, blood orange, ho wood, and sandalwood. I used a silicone gemstone mold. The ones in the mold took a long time to dry, so definitely add more flour as needed so the dough is dry if you use a mold.
You will need:
  • 1 1/2 cup flour (plus more as needed)
  • 1/3 cup salt
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoons essential oils
  • 2/3 cup cooled boiled water
  • 2 teaspoons mica powder or food coloring
Mix the dry ingredients together and stir.
Add the water. I boiled it and let it cool completely.
Then add the essential oils and stir well. Use a spoon or a gloved hand.
Add your color. I used mica powder. I divided mine into three bowls to make three colors. You can make yours the same color or make a few colors.
Knead well with gloved hands. Add more flour as needed. The dough should not be sticky.
Press into a mold or make rocks. To make a rock, make a sphere and flatten slightly. Let dry completely.
Put them in a pretty dish and set on a desk or in a small space. They will act like a natural air freshener.
