Turning An Old Window Into a Art Piece

I’m so excited for today’s post!! It’s quick and easy, just how I like my projects, lol.

AND it came out so AWESOME!!

I love old windows and I have done some pretty things with them. I think I have about 15 of them, maybe 20 left. I have an awesome project coming up with old windows involved so follow along.

The picture above is the window I am working on today!

The picture below is a huge window hanging downstairs. I just took a lace tablecloth, cut it to size and hot glued it to the back of the window. Easy peasy! Hung the star I found at a yard sale in front with faux flowers and viola, instant decor! lol. This window is HUGE!!

Isn’t that chippiness so awesome?!

Ok, let’s do this.

Take a window, preferably old with lots of character (translation, chippy paint), clean the window and in my case, glue the seam so it doesn’t come apart. Find a transfer that you can add to it!

Simple, right?

If you have followed me any amount of time, you know I love transfers. I bought this one a couple of years ago. You can find it here in a new format. I wanted to put it on a mirror or window. The window won out.

Make sure your window is clean so the transfer will stick. With the backing on the transfer, I placed it on the window to get an idea of where to place it. The transfer was just about 2 inches too big horizontally but fit perfectly vertically. Cut it to the size you want. You can see I cut around some of the flowers and leaves and made them go onto the frame. After that, it is just a matter of taking a little bit of the paper backing off and sticking it in place. Take the tool that comes with it and run it over the transfer. You want to start in one corner and begin rubbing with firm, even pressure to adhere the transfer to the surface you are applying it to.

Oh, so pretty!!

You can see the transfer lifting as you rub. If you have a small amount that hasn’t transferred when you pull up the sheet, just lay it back down and apply more rubbing on that area.

And that is it! Simple, easy, and beautiful!

These windows were dirty and it was hard to clean that area but I used Titebond glue and it seems to work great, it’s not loose anymore.

I used the other side for the front because I just liked it better, plus I didn’t get a picture of it!

What do you think?

It makes my heart happy every time I look at it! Ah, springtime!!

I just need to add hardware and hang it! Do I hang it in the window or??? There you have it, a simple project that is so beautiful!!

Here is another post with a window I hung outside for Christmas many years ago. Very simple but had a great impact when walking up the sidewalk.
