We found a hummingbird nest!

by Jennifer G
From doing a little research, my husband and I found out hummingbirds use spider silk to build their nests. The silk stretches as the babies grow. There are 2 babies in this one, we think. The nest is probably a little smaller than a baseball. Pretty cool to watch!
Tail feathers.
The babies head and long beak.
Not sure if it's mom and baby or 2 babies.
They were taking turns cleaning each other.

I love to watch the hummers but have never seen a nest either. Lucky you!!! I have 2 hummingbird feeders out even with all my flowers and am considering adding a 3rd next year. With the drought that we have had this year, I added another water source for the birds, making 3. With the birds water sources drying up I think it is important to make sure that they have plenty. I water so it is easy to refill the birdbaths etc. daily sometimes twice
