SK's Queen of Everything and Princess of Pretty Much

SK on Elderberry
by SK on Elderberry
SK's upholstered wrought iron bench and matching custom canvas paintings.
An old cracked wood and wrought iron bench was in need of a pretty face-lift. And me being, well Me. I had to make it way more difficult than it needed to be. But the experimentation was worth the effort.
I sanded and then painted the metal with a Rustoleom hammered black iron paint.
I pre-painted the background canvas for all three pieces. I used a damask curl stencil and The Graphics Fairy whom I love. When this light background was dry, I used a Clorox bleach pen and drew more curls knowing after washing these parts would looked bleached.

The custom sizes of the canvases dictated I build and stretch my own. I bought a cream canvas duck. Again with the washing and ironing duck...Getting to be a habit.
I use graphics from The Graphics Fairy often.

After adding foam and under-fabric, I upholstered the cracked old wood bench with the pre-painted canvas.

Then the real painting started...
I haven't decided if this project is finished as yet. I guess we shall see.
Thanks for visiting. sk
