Back to School Mud Room

With the school year in full gear, I found that it's essential to have a mud room area! My home doesn't have a coat closet, so I made a small mud room area by my home's front door. There is a place for my kids to drop off their jackets and shoes, and even space to drop their backpacks. I've added a mirror for last-minute touch-ups, a calendar to remind us of the day's events, a clock to keep us on schedule, and a DIY dry erase board (made by framing scrapbook paper in an expensive frame) to note to-do items. Our mud room area helps my family quite a bit!
A few essential elements help make my family's mud room work!
Folding shelves and bins give us a place to stash our shoes. The shelf on top is also a spot to drop off keys, etc. The coat rack above has room for every family member to hang at least one coat. The mirror on the wall is great for last-minute fixes before running out the door.
Each family member's bin can hold two-three pairs of shoes.
A calendar hung on the inside of the front door helps remind my family where we have to be and when!
The clock and dry-erase board are essential keeping my family on time and reminding us where we have to be!
