I took this old oak hutch, which was very dated and gave it a lighter happier little life!
this is the before of it stripped bare
I removed all the hardware and doors and cleaned them and the hutch thoroughly, it was pretty old and a bit dirty.
I then decided on painting the entire piece old country cream and figured i would darken it later with waxes. One fun idea I used for this piece is modge podged fabric in the back and in the drawers. I distressed away and I also clear and dark waxed for a more deep rich patina. I then added toile fabric paneling in the hutch doors and finished off with new hardware. I chose old red antiqued keyholes and keys for the knobs and drawer pulls.
I am pretty pleased with the outcome!
