DIY Fabric headboard

I love making headboards. This little cottage bedroom needed some bold color and some height (despite the 7" ceilings!)
My only option for placing the bed was between the windows and I hesitated to block the light, but I think this headboard gives me the height and pattern I was looking for, without compromising the natural light.
I used 1/2" MDF, 2 yards of Sunbrella, some quilt batting and a staple gun. Using a 2x4 for stablility and to bump it out to the level of the window sills worked perfectly.

Just push the bed up against it

I love blue and green together.

I'm not all that crafty except in my imagination so pls excuse my ignorance. Where might one buy sunbrella material by the yard? How many yards did this project take?
