Picture Ledges Gallery Wall

I've wanted to create a gallery wall for the longest time, but I also wanted the flexibility to make changes and updates on a regular basis. Picture ledges were the perfect solution! And this is a low cost project that is quick and easy to complete - no special skills and only the most basic tools required!
A long hallway is great for picture ledges, but you customize the size of the ledges for any spot in your house. Have your local lumber store cut your boards to size and you won't even need a saw.
Each ledge requires three boards - a 1 x 4, a 1 x 3 and a 1 x 1. We went with 10 foot long boards, the longest we could find, perfect for our hallway.
And you'll need some wood screws and finishing nails to put it all together.
We used the same paint as the trim in our house, but these would look great stained too.
These photos have a theme and tell a very special part of our life history.
I love the layered look of the frames and our picture ledges will just get better and more interesting over time!
