We took a Cozy Coupe and a Lego Wagon, purchased at a yard sale, cleaned them up, painted them, and made them into some Alma Mater fun for our grandson. There are many madeover Cozy Coupes out there and this is just one more way to customize it to fit your family without breaking the bank or having any special talents.
This is what they looked like when we first got them. The last child that owned it stuck dirt, sticks and water in a hole in the back and it stank to high heaven. My husband drilled a few holes in the bottom to clean it out then let it dry completely.
This was full of Duplo blocks that my grandson drug around and tried to ride in - even though he was too big.
We used some croquet wickets from a set we had in the garage for the top of the schooner.
Took the top off of the Cozy Coupe to paint it more easily. We used Primer for Plastics on all pieces then Krylon cream and crimson-like colors.
The little Lego wagon couldn't be taken apart so it had to be taped more and I didn't get a picture of it being painted.
After they were painted and dry - we drilled tiny holes in the Lego Wagon and stuck the Croquet Wickets into the holes held with some glue. Then we cut out an old white towel ready for the rag bin. we fit it over and around the wickets and duct taped it together. (He's a really tough kid and will tear it up eventually whether we were to sew it together or not and since I cannot sew, duct tape works just fine).
Then we bought some decals at Walmart of our local college team to put on the car and wagon in different places. Cost of Decals $3.99, cost of personalized car tag $4.99. He also drilled 2 small holes then wrapped wire around the handle of the wagon and through the back of the coupe so he could run the Sooner Schooner around as he drove the car.
Our grandson loves it - we can hardly get him out of it to play with anything else these days.
He even tried to get us to serve him dinner in there - he kept saying, "like at Sonic!" The "passenger" in the schooner plays Boomer Sooner if you squeeze his foot so he even has a radio. It's easy and cheap - Anyone can do it!
