It all started with my Mom's shadow box; after having no place to hang it after remodeling the house this is what I came up with. Found a $5 yard sale table, had my son & daughter in law build a frame for the top, sanded it down and I stained it! It’s a new coffee table. I got a glass cut for the top to kitty-proof it.
My Mom's shadow box
The frame for the top. Sanded both down to the wood and stained them both
I screwed the frame to the table and used it like this until I got the glass
The finished product. My Mom's things are in all the cubbies and I added some seasonal stuff. It can be changed out for any occasion. I think she would be pleased.

Gave me inspiration! I have a reproduction printers tray that I no no wall for. Thinking of using hairpin legs instead of heavy frame like yours but may change that if the tray is not sturdy enough.

    Thanks again.
