DIY (Faux) Pumpkin Embellished Vase

An easy and inexpensive project to create a festive Fall centerpiece that will last throughout the season. I used a faux pumpkin (they are hollow and carve-able), Dollar Tree gold thumb tacks and a mix of faux and real florals to create this centerpiece for under $30.
You'll Need:

Faux Pumpkin (this one is from Michaels)

Gold thumb tacks

Faux Florals (the ranunculus and peonies are faux and from WalMart)

In season real flowers (picked up two bunches from Trader Joes for $5)
I used a bread knife to saw off the top, placed thumb tacks along the ridges, placed a glass vase inside of the pumpkin (surrounded by newspaper to hold it steady) and then created my arrangement, putting the faux florals along the outside of the vase as fillers.
Perfect for a centerpiece, Fall party decor or even a Thanksgiving tablescape.

What was the pumpkin made out of? Was it plastic or Styrofoam? I love this idea. I have a few pumpkins and would like to try this.

Hi jane! I'm not sure exactly what it is, but yes, a more compressed styrofoam type material. Great for carving with a craft blade too :)
