Creating Paneled Doors for Pennies
All of my homes have been older in years but not quite old enough to have those lovely, paneled doors that you find in truly old homes. Instead, we have always had the flat, standard doors without character. We took those plain doors and gave them the vintage, paneled look for a fraction of the cost of replacing them all.
Here is the picture of what the doors all looked like - the standard 1960's bland doors.
We took molding and glue and created a paneled look by having it applied and then painting the doors in a bright white.
They now have character and look like the older, paneled doors that I so admire in truly old homes.
I replaced all of the dated gold hardware with rubbed bronze handles from HomeDepot. We also changed out the light fixtures to match.
The difference in the hallway is incredible!
All done for the cost of molding, glue and paint!

Painting the door with a colourful chalkboard paint gives children a place to play while visiting me. I have recently switched that up by doing the pantry door with a magnetic primer covered with appliance paint. Erasiable dry marker and light weight magnets are perfect and so much. For me ... a perfect message board

Doors with molding really do make a big difference in your home. We were able to replace all of our doors but this idea is a great money saver if you can't replace entirely. Mine have a bead board look and it seems you could adhere bead board inside your molding and get the same look. Great idea!

we have done this to our closet doors, But how or where did you get the curved molding ? It looks way better than just the straight molding.
