Budget Kitchen Redo

When we moved into our house eight years ago, it had never seen the light of upgrade!!! This is the kitchen when we moved in, beside the overly huge island, and desk area, we only had 3 and a half feet of counter space!!! The desk area was where the microwave and toaster oven went....the fridge door way in the right hand side corner could not open all the way due to the island!!! We redid the kitchen all for under $2,000.00!!!
My husband sawzawed the top portion of the cupboard wall and desk area. He also removed the top cabinets above the sink, and we took in the width of the island base...
Here is the reveal!!!!
Hubby built a pantry on the end, to make up for the lost cupboard space. We put trim on the fronts of drawers and cupboards.
Wanted glass tile in the kitchen, and well on a budget you got to be creative!!

Until we bought our own home 3 years ago, we lived in rental accommodation - 3 different flats/townhouses and I can tell you the kitchens NEVER were made with bench space. Barely room to park the kettle and toaster. One place we lived had a reasonable sized kitchen with plenty of cupboard space, like yours, and no work surfaces to speak of, so much so that when we bought a microwave oven, we had to buy a trolley to put it on! Good for you for making your kitchen into a much more user friendly space and modernising the whole look to in the process. Good job.

Thank you all for your kind words!!! I was so hesitant to do the remodel, especially with white and the trim on the doors, so glad I went for it!!!
