Porch gate with latch
by
B. J
(IC: homeowner)
Attaching gate to the front porch
*My motivation to do this project:
The basic reason for installing the gate is to keep my 10 month old puppy from running off. We can now enjoy the porch together.
*Project Steps:
Measured the space
Drew the specs
Purchased material (wood, deck screws, mounting hardware & latch guard)
Built the gate
Hung the gate
Advice:
Make sure that your mounting hardware will support the weight of your gate. I had to make another trip to Home Depot for stronger hardware.
Materials:
(2) 8ft. X 2x4 - $6.00
(2) 8ft. X 1x1 wood to make ballisters - $2.00
1 box X 3.5" deck screws - $8.00
2 heavy duty steel mounting brackets/hinges X mounting hardware - $6.00
1 latch set X mounting hardware - $3.00
