I needed a huge outdoor rug to go under my furniture in my gazebo but the cost for one the size I needed was astronomical!
I went to a local home store and bought the astroturf you buy in 12 foot length and got the size I needed for cheap, cheap, cheap!!
I used duck tape and made my border.
Needless to say I free-handed the large star (it's a little off but that goes under the table) and I used a stencil for the smaller stars.
A closer look of the finished product.
My gazebo looks much more inviting with the addition of the rug.
Enjoyed the project?

Jackie D on Oct 31, 2014Fantastic idea, love it ! What was the paint you used? Have you ever painted the whole rug? Just faded and washed-out, need to recycle an old but still good smaller rug. By the way your star is great ! I would also like to stencil also something. Looking forward to giving this a try.

Melisa Gingrich on Nov 02, 2014I used regular acrylic paint with a couple coats of polyurethane to protect it.

What kind of paint did u use?
I have never seen tan/brown astroturf? Did you buy it at someplace like Home Depot or Lowes? My email is noah11@verizon.net
Why isn’t your AstroTurf green? It looks great, I’m impressed but I’ve only ever seen it in green.
