The front yard transformation

Michele Ferrari
by Michele Ferrari
After spending the summer breaking up and hauling away 4 1/2 tons of blacktop, bringing in 2 tons of topsoil, building a fence, installing an arbor, landscaping, and brick laying, we were able to change our front yard parking lot into a thing of beauty.
The work begins.
4 1/2 tons worth of blacktop.
A clean pallet.
Tilling very compacted soil.
2 tons of topsoil in.
The arbor assemble and installed.
Grass came in fairly quickly.
Fence designed and building commenced. Street view.
View from my side.
Side yard view.
Brickwork started.
Another view.
So pretty.
Green everywhere.
More brick, a much needed step.
All done... for now.

Was this an original design or was a designer hired to present the idea? It is great looking and inviting.

You have done an amazing job - especially in removing all the bitumen looking 'path'. I love the entry archway. Looks great. What about dangling a small wind chime from the round archway? Just one that will gently tinkle and not drive you crazy. Or if you are like me (I LOVE fairy lights), drape some solar fairy lights around the archway? Again. Congratulations - you should be proud of the work done.

That's an absolutely incredible transformation and it's so beautiful. I keep looking at the before and after and I know it's the same house, the same trees, the same walkway running up to the front door, but my eyes still don't believe it! Wonderful plan/vision. Wish I had that! I will not complain about my conventional front yard with plenty of grass and plants ever again, LOL! I'd have to hire people to do all of that work, unfortunately, no way could I do it myself (taking out blacktop, building a fence from scratch, etc.) If your municipality gives out "beautiful yard" awards, you should get one!
