Instructions how to properly clean vacuum machines and brooms to prolong their lifespan.

The cleaning tools are the devices that help you clean everything around the house – to clean furniture upholstery and carpets, to clean and polish the surfaces and to perfectly maintain everything around the house. You probably never thought about the cleaning of those tools, but if you clean and maintain the devices properly you will achieve better results in the cleaning of your home. I have prepared for you some tips to help you clean the most frequently used cleaning devices.

Vacuum Machine

The cleaning of the vacuum machine is very important as this tool is essential for removing the dust and dirt from the carpets, furniture upholstery and draperies. The cleaner you keep your vacuum, the better it will do its job. There are some general tips that will help you with this.

The first thing that you may do is to empty the canister after each use, you can even wash it. If you have paper bags, then empty the bag when it is full and replace with a brand new one.

Wash the filter at least once every 3 months. Take out the filter, run it under hot water and use a bit of dish soap if you wish. Rinse well until the water runs clear and then leave it to dry for at least 24 hours.

The power head can be cleaned by simply using a pair of scissors to cut out string or hair that has inevitably been wrapped around the vacuum’s rotating brushes.

The attachments also need to get cleaned. This process is easy and simple – just wash the attachments with soapy water, rinse and leave it to air dry before using them again.

Brooms

You probably never think about the broom, but you need to pay a special attention to the broom as a lot of the dirt and dust is trapped in the broom head.

You can remove the broom portion from the broom stick, if it is threaded, and place it in a bucket. Add warm water and a cup of oxygen based detergent. Stir well and add the broom head into the water. This will remove the dirt from the tools and will also disinfect and deodorise it.

Leave the broom to stay in the water for at least 20 minutes and then rinse it with clean water. Finish off by leaving it to dry.

Also, when you clean your broom, clean your dust pan.

My mom always did this. Clean your cleaning tools, inside of dishwasher and clothes washer and dryer. Cleaning vacuum a must for allergy sufferers. Use a pillow case in a clean broom to clean ceilings, corners. You don't need allot of fancy specialized cleaning tools.
