$13 DIY Boxwood Christmas Wreath

I’ve been thinking about what kind of wreath would look best against our navy front door. Since we've been so busy with renovations, I knew my time would be limited in the coming days, so I needed to find something simple.
We were shopping for a Christmas tree at our local nursery over the weekend, and I saw some boxwood wreaths for sale. I was tempted to just buy one since I knew my time would be limited in the coming days, but they looked kind of wimpy and were pricey. I kept walking, and saw that they sold big bunches of boxwood clippings for under $3 each. We were in business!
I spent $8 on 3 big bunches of clippings, $2 for an 18″ metal wreath frame (I used my 50% off Michaels coupon), and $3 for the red bow. Grand total? A whopping $12.50 for a nice chunky boxwood wreath!
I took a few twigs at a time and weaved them into the wires.
I tucked the ends of the branchs under and over the wire so they would stay in place.
And just kept going (clockwise) until I had an entire wreath of boxwood.
I bought a red metal wreath hanger from Michaels for $4 which was a perfect fit on our door. When I was done with the wreath, I just hung it on there and attached the bow.

I've seen lots of versions where the boxwood is trimmed so it looks less crazy, but I like the crazy so I left I be.
It was so easy to make and only took about a half hour to make. Doesn't it look pretty? Check out my blog for more photos of the door, and more info on our ongoing 1920 duplex restoration project!
