Felted Dryer Balls

Natural felted dryer balls are a great alternative to chemical based dryer sheets. They reduce static, add some lovely fragrance to your clothes naturally and save energy by reducing drying time. And the best part is that they are super quick and easy to make.
You start by winding 100% wool yarn into tennis sized balls. Tuck the ends in with a darning needle and cut off any excess.

You must use 100% wool yarn or this will not work!!
Tie each ball into a discarded pantyhose leg, securing with a knot on each side. Toss them into the washing machine on a Hot Wash/Cold Rinse cycle. Then place them in the dryer. You may need to do this a couple of times for them to felt properly. I did the wash cycle twice and the dry cycle three times, just to be sure they were dried all the way through.
Remove from their panythose nest and you'll have beautifully felted dryer balls. Add a few drops of essential oil to each ball. Lavender is my favourite, but you can use whatever you want - pine, lemon, orange oil.
Add a little explanation card into the mix and you've got a great DIY hostess gift.
