    Great photo....the caterpillar for this moth is the dreaded/hated tomato hornworm....if people routinely destroy them the hummingbird moths will become more and more scarce.

    Thank you, Dorothy!I didn't know the caterpillar was a hornworm. As a matter of fact I just found out these moths existed last year, when one was visiting our flowers and scared the daylights out of me! They are so interesting to watch! Now I'll be careful to watch for the caterpillars too!
