From Cheap to "Chef", This Kitchen Gets a High End Make Over

When we first bought our mountain home, the cabinets in our kitchen left much to be desired, as did the appliances, floor and even the lighting. In fact, there just wasn't a single thing that I liked about this open kitchen.
Even the lay out didn't work.
Destruction was actually quite thrilling! We kept the base cabinets and I just decided to re-do the doors instead of replacing everything.
Sanding and painting the doors and then adding resin onlays gave the doors a much more elegant "traditional" look.
Re-building the island then watching the granite being installed was a thrill! New appliances and hard wood flooring warmed up the space beautifully!
Open shelving completed the picture and now, I was in love with this kitchen! It now brought the kitchen area in line with the elegance of the rest of the home.

what are "resin onlays," and where do you buy them?

Resin onlays are decorative pieces that you can glue to furniture, cabinets and crafts to provide an embellished surface. You can search the term on google and many website will come up, or find them on Ebay by searching the same term.
