Listening to the Past: Looking for Details in Old Homes so New Projects "Fit"

This balustrade I built last month was chosen by the owner based on the obvious sunburst design over the front door. I also offered to build a diamond pattern into the rail to echo the diamonds over the door. Sometimes the design clues are not so obvious.
