This is the before picture of the desk my father-in-law refinished for my daughter's Christmas present this year. She chose the colors.

Finished desk
This is the finished product. She is 8 years old, so she will get many years of use from it. He added new drawer pulls. It needed some new hardware because some was missing. It was also missing the wooden slides that allow the drawer to open. He fitted it with new slides, sanded down the top, added the new hardware, and built the "hutch" from scratch. He then painted it and attached the "hutch" to the desk.
I found an old chair in our basement and painted it to match. I used some old canvas material and stamped the seat with the same pink paint.

Very pretty and know your daughter loved it. Any furniture higher than our child got fastened to the wall to prevent any potential accident. Bookcases, cabinets, etc. In early years I entered our childs bedroom to check on her and a playmate had pulled out the drawers to use as a ladder to get to the top where he was sitting....hence chests etc. got fastened to wall stud.
