Soda Bottle Candy Container

Looking for a fun, easy winter craft project? Put an old soda bottle to re-use and you can make this awesome snowman candy container.
First you need to cut out the center portion of a 2-liter Coke bottle, which has curves in all the right places, allowing the "lid" of your candy jar to sit nicely on the "bowl."
Your bowl (the bottom portion) should measure about 3 3/4" high, while your lid (the top portion) should measure about 5 1/4." Save the middle for another project or recycle it.
This is what it looks like before you begin painting it.
In this photo, both pieces have received two coats of acrylic craft paint and one coat of Modge Podge, using a foam brush. The MP protects the painted surface and gives it some gloss. The top gets painted red, the bottom, white. (NOTE: If it weren't freezing out, and you had red and white spray paint, spray painting these would be quick and easy. You might still need two coats of paint, but no MP.)
Add two button eyes and a felt carrot nose and you're all done--wasn't that a simple craft?
Fill the bowl with candy or some other treat and you're good to go. This would make a great project for your children or grandchildren, about ages 8-12. They might like to give the lid some stripes or polka dots, or even a bit of trim. There you have it--an up-cycled candy container--cute as can be!

Are the edges sharp? If so, what remedy would you recommend?

I do think this is cute! I make Chex mix for everyone. We don't buy Cokes in huge quantities, only 7 oz cans ever so often. I guess I could ask around. I would replace the black bottle cap with a large Pom ball and some trim around the edge.
