Narrow side yard

This is a before and an in progress after.
Before. So ugly and uninviting. We painted our bolck walls a more cream color and painted all previously dark brown colomns and gate a soft tan.
My after is a photo from the opposite end of the alley way of a side yard. I am not done yet. Will post updated photos.
I have now added some vine work to the walls too.
My new bench for color. I am working on an asain theme here. The signs on the bench I am going to hang on the wall. Still a work in progress.
I lost a vine this winter. Must replant the new one. I had to trim the others back quite a bit. Almost lost them all. I am going to stager the flagstone for a more interesting look.

Staggering the stones (drunkard's path) will also allow small areas you could fill with groupings of potted plants, not only annual flowers, but herbs will add a pleasant scent and useful texture. Add interest to blank walls with unexpected art objects like metal sculptures, or outdoor pictures.
  • Just beautiful! Take your time and I know it will turn out better than you imagined. Where I live, I have a similar type side yard, but much smaller. Turned out to be a great home for my succulents as it is on the north side of the house and protected from the blazing sun. You had a vision and turned nothing into a sanctuary. Hope you enjoy it for many years to come.
