DIY Dog Treat Jars

I wanted to create something to store dog treats in that would work well not only as storage, but look good at the same time. And while hearts are incorporated, and they are perfect for Valentine’s Day treats, these fun containers can be used year round!
So, I dug around in my recycled container collection and pulled out a pickle jar and a holiday pretzel container. For this project, you can use any container that you like, but these seemed to work out well for my purposes.
I used a pickle jar, a holiday pretzel container, burlap ribbon, colored felt, embroidery floss, and polymer clay for these fun containers.
You can find the free pattern for the hearts and bones on my website on the link below. Cut out a bone and hearts from felt and tack together with hot glue.
Attach the bone to the hearts with a blanket stitch. (You can find more details on my site).
Wrap the containers with a couple layers of burlap ribbon, attaching with hot glue. Glue on the hearts.
Glue on pretty coordinating ribbons.
Roll out the polymer clay and use the smaller bone pattern to cut out a bone ornament. Bake as directed on the polymer box.
Fill with your pet's favorite treats! For cats, you could make a fish instead of a bone!
