Winter Ice Lanterns
Create beautiful Ice Lanterns using plastic soda bottles, boxwood and cranberries! Perfect glow on a chilly winter night!
Ice Lantern
Cut greens from the yard (I used Boxwood) and cranberries to fill the sides. Cranberries float, so place some in the bottom first and then add green on top. Add a few additional cranberries on the sides. When you fill the container with water the cranberries will rise to the top.

I was pleased how the ice lanterns turned out. I also made smaller ones to line the walk as guest approached the door! For these, I use cottage cheese containers and small disposable food storage containers. These were so much easier to separate as the cottage cheese containers had a smaller bottom and the ice slid right out.

Have not done this in years, but this year I am using your suggestion as my Christmas centerpiece, I use a clean milk carton, I insert a glass, then, cranberry's & greens adding water about 3/4 to the top, freeze, after frozen the milk carton will slip off under mildly warm water, remove the glass, insert a candle where the glass was, light and there you go, it is beautiful.
