Refinishing a Chest of Drawers

Need to save money? Sometimes you just have to work with what you have. I decided to refinish my old chest of drawers that I'd had my whole life and transform it into something that fit well with my new style in my craft room.
I tried several stripping methods, until I finally had some luck with Jasco Premium Paint & Epoxy Remover (gel form)
After stripping the furniture of layers of paint, I cleaned it with a TSP substitute.
Although I read that chalk paint did not require priming, I decided to prime my piece because I had removed the paint and I wanted to seal any of that red from seeping through the chalk paint.
I made my own chalk paint for this project.

Ingredients:

2 c latex paint of your choice (the finish doesn't matter; I used leftover trim paint so it was a semi-gloss finish)

1 c additive of your choice (I chose to use white unsanded grout)

measuring cup

bucket to mix

paint stirrer

Directions:

Measure out 2 cups of paint into a container. Stir in 1 cup of unsanded grout. Be sure to mix, mix, mix well. Pour into a paint tray. That is all.
All of the fixtures were spray painted in a brush nickel satin-finish paint.
The drawers were lined with contact paper purchased from the Dollar Tree.
And this is the final project. A Crisp Linen chalk-painted chest of drawers. So what's inside? Fabrics galore. :-)
Before and After.

Even though this isn't a fine piece of furniture, it's a piece I had my entire life. I remember the different colors it had been painted over the years. I'm glad to have it in my home today. Now, I have to decide how I want to refinish it's match - the dresser (currently located in the guest room)....
