DIY Turquoise Subway Tile Backsplash
When Krista and her husband bought their home in November, it hadn't seen an update since 1971. They knew they were going to have to do some major renovations to bring it up-to-date, but Krista knew all along what her vision was for the kitchen.

The previous kitchen featured beige cabinetry and a similarly colored wood-panel backsplash that really blended together into a bland palette.
Krista's vision for the new kitchen was centered around her dream of having a sleek turquoise subway tile backsplash. To start, they gutted everything completely. They then installed sheet rock where the wood paneling was previously. Next, they installed cabinets from Ikea and a new arctic white quartz countertop.
The new kitchen looks incredible! After doing her research, Krista decided on Storka 5th Avenue Turquoise 4 x 16 subway tile from SouthCypress.com for the backsplash. The turquoise was exactly what she was looking for, and the large tile gives it a completely unique look! Krista is still amazed at how well it turned out. It is exactly what she dreamed of from the beginning!
This was a DIY project that Krista and her husband completed totally on their own. Krista says that it took about four or five hours to complete the backsplash. The difference it makes is amazing! What once was bland and tan is now bold and new!
Krista and her husband installed the backsplash themselves, but they did a professional quality job! The color really pops with the new cabinetry, faucet, counter and appliances!
Many people have a hard time deciding how to finish the edge of a backsplash. Krista and her husband expertly created an even edge without the need for bullnose. Their tile cutter helped them ensure a perfect line. This style choice is extremely popular in European design!
